I have a new hard drive I have the plug to make it an external can I just back it up on that and put that one in the ps3 so I don't need and external?

Ok now when I want to back my info dose this still have the same settings as the new updated firmware on 2011 updated ps3 cuz this was when it barly came out lol + when your taking out you info would there be a chance of curoupted data?

@69trollman69 If you had a hardrive in before and restored, all the data from the restore will be on that drive too.

i put a new 160GB Toshiba 5200 RPM and apparently it only has 57GB?

@MrEDDFire It won't affect your trophies. That information isn't stored on your HDD.

I have a question, let's say I don't back up my HDD because I don't have an external HDD. If I upgrade to my new HDD, use it, and go back to my old HDD, will I be asked to format it?

@titfucker1990 lol no. 360 uses the bigger desktop hard drive. PS3 uses laptop hard drive.

Just 2-3 days ago i swapped my 40gb for a 500gb 2.5inch western digital SATA 5400 rpm hard drive....i opened the 500gb hard drive box and it turned out it was a 640gb hard drive w/ a letter saying i was rewarded an extra 140gb of free space....so basically im just bragging here but i hope it gives you an idea on what to buy ;) XD

y not just use the external hard drive for everything? like. tape it to the ps3 somewhere? lol
