Till Summer Comes Around Chapter 14

"It's a nice view"

I turned to see a man walking towards me. I stood up straight wiping my face as he knelt against the wall and looked out over the ocean.

"It's funny isn't it how such a beautiful view can make you unhappy?" he said looking towards me, thats when I saw it the blue eyes... just like James,
the blond hair and the same nose.

I looked away quickly. I knew him, I had met him the first summer. The first time I met James... Matt...Matt Sullivan....his brother.

"Rebekah Lesson... you've sure grown up" he said with half smile and I looked at him again still wiping my face.

"Matt" he said extending his hand "I don't know if you remember me or not" he said as he looked at my left hand.

"Nice ring" he said turning his view back out to the ocean.

"What are you doing here?" I asked staring at him

"Same thing you are...remembering...hurting...wondering" he said looking back at me now "and checking on you"

"I don't need any one else checking on me" I said

"It's normal you know"

"What?" I asked

"The hurting the wanting to cry to be alone... I know how you feel" he said and I had to bite my
tongue looking out at the ocean shaking my head...nobody knew how I felt.

"And thats not what you want to hear because you've heard it a thousand times" he said and I looked back at him.

"No one knows how I Feel..." I said and he smiled and shook his head.

"Lauren..."

"what?" I asked and he continued looking out over the ocean.

"Her name was Lauren, she was my high school sweet heart. 8 years we spent together, junior year all the way through college and after"

"What happened?" I asked and he kept his gaze out into the ocean

"She passed away. Cancer... she told me one week after our first date, I knew it would come but I didn't want it to, I ignored it and so did she we lived our
lives, got married 4 years ago and she passed away 3 years ago..."

"I'm sorry" I said and he shook his head

"You should now better than any one that doesn't help anything...I was a mess until 6 months ago. James he came and got me, took me to the ocean...showed me
life goes on it has to... he told me about you and how you showed him the special things about the ocean...and now..."

I tried to hold it back but it came out in a sob, a pitful sob, I turned away from him and covered my mouth.

"I'm sorry" I spit out as I tried to stop it but it wouldn't stop. I felt Matt turn me around and pull me into his arms. I buried my face in my hands into
his chest.

"I hated him...I thought he left, I thought he decided to leave and leave without me like all the times before, I waited on that freakin beach till 2 in the
morning. It was my idea...my idea to meet there. To have dinner on the beach we had our first date. I... he wouldn't of even been on that road if it wasn't
for me!" I said through my tears eventually pulling away from him.

"I know it hurts...espcially sense you were...engaged" he said and I shook my head

"Theres more...Theres so much more..." I half whispered and than I turned my back to him reliezing I shouldn't of said that.

"I had a feeling there was" he said and I turned back looking at him "How far?" he asked and I frowned at him

"What are you talking about?" I asked my voice shaking

"I don't know you tell me" he said

"We weren't engaged..." I said looking out over the ocean "We were married" I said glancing over at Matt who stood up straight and I looked away from him
"Three weeks before the accident, we got married nobody knows...the authorities know but...we were going to...we had plans....we had decided...we were going
to do it again you know? Have a big wedding with every one there after we came to New York..." I said and the sobbing started again as I let my head fall.
I felt Matts hand on my back.

"Theres more..." I said looking over at him still crying.

"More?" he asked and I nodded and turned to face him wiping my face.
