@AugmentedMinor Matthew 5:48 was not written by Paul. Read 1 John. But before you do that, you should first discover why a perfectly obedient Christian needs a savior.
@AugmentedMinor You are in error. Firstly, anyone who continues in sin does not know the savior. Secondly, if you stop sinning today and never sin again you still need a savior. I'll leave you to your bible studies to discovery the obvious answer why. "this is elementary teaching" ??? No. It is called lying to the Holy Spirit. "BE YE PERFECT" - Jesus.
@RobertMOdell No worries, already have Robert. This concept that we can be perfect in practice while on earth has been rejected for centuries, for if we could be perfect then Christ died in vain. Romans 5:7
The Bible does not say we can be perfect, else we wouldn't need a Savior, this is an elementary teaching. Matthew 5:48 is talking about God's standard, "Mat 5:48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect." Must be perfect, not you can be, else Jesus'b blood is in vain, just as it would be if we lost our salvation.
@AugmentedMinor What question? You said "The Bible does not say we can be perfect, else we wouldn't need a Savior". That is a direct quote.

@RobertMOdell Robert don't side step the question. Are Paul and Jesus contradicting?

@RobertMOdell Robert, I quoted the Bible, can you offer a counter exegesis to Paul's crystal clear statement?
