No offense to Julia Nunes, or her very good cover, or anyone who likes her version better, but no. On rare occasions, yes, covers can surpass the original (say for instance, Jimmi Hendrix's cover of Bob Dylan's "all along the watchtower"). This is not one of those times.

@jessefrooshgraham Alien Ant Farm version of smooth criminal was criminal itself. Julia Nunes version was good, but this is much, much better.

@bostongary There are a lot of good covers out there. Some are better than the original. I think that there are people who sing who aren't song writers so for them, covers are the way to go. I love this song and have seen lots of good covers for this song. I have nothing against covers. Do you sing? If so, haven't you sang a song or two that were not you own?.
