This is the new Mango Beta for Windows Phone 7 installed on my NoDo updated Samsung Focus which was unlocked using ChevronWP7 unlock tool.
This is not my personal work. Thanks to the people at XDA Developers for this. You guys rock!
Before you continue reading any further please understand that anything you do to your smartphone is your own responsibility as the procedure described above can be harmful, void your warranty or even render your smartphone useless. That being said, we understood the disclaimer and got ourselves the Mango Beta Update. You can update to Mango too, just read below.
You don't need to have a developer unlocked smartphone or pre-tampered with in any way, but it works easier if your phone is unlocked with Chevron. While there are several ways to achieve this, the easiest is outlined in the steps above:
Prerequisites: Read the disclaimer if you skipped! Other than that, you just have to have a NoDo-powered Windows Phone and make sure you've got plenty of battery juice left!
1. Download the tool MangoforAll included in the link at the bottom of this email
2. Install Windows Phone Support Tools, 32bit or 64bit flavor according to your OS. Just install the file. You do not actually have to run this program for anything. It just has program files associated with it you need.
3. Unzip the MangoforAll file to your desktop. Make sure Zune is closed out.
4. Inside the folder, Run the batch file that says Update.bat. (A. Close Zune program before executing Update.bat. Otherwise, Update.bat only copies the old Zune backups to C:\\PreMangoState and doesn't touch the phone at all (because Zune already own the connection to the phone). One warning message scrolls by too fast for anyone to catch this problem.)
This will create a backup of your phone in its pre Mango state for you to be able to backup your phone to later. It will backup to you're a file C://PreMangoState. Save this file because you will need it to restore your phone to NoDo before the real Mango update comes out.
5. Once finished it will start Zune
6. Check for updates and apply Windows Phone 7 build 7401 update found
7. Once finished, check for updates again and apply Windows Phone 7 Mango build 7661 update found.
8. After the Update the Zune software itself will try an update and, while it will say it is up to date, it won't find your phone. You need to manually update Zune to Beta Mango client (build 4.8.2098.0) using the downloaded Zune Beta File found in the link below.
You're set!
Word of note: According to Microsoft, you will have to revert to NoDo before Mango is officially out. Make sure you put the tool you downloaded in step 1 as well as your device backup from C:\PreMangoState in a VERY safe place. Follow the instructions in the readme of the tool to revert to Mango.
B. Make sure you have enough disk space in C: drive because Update.bat copies the old backups in there. For me, they were NoDo and pre-NoDo backups which consumed 4GB. I had about 8GB left so it was a close call. I could have lost my NoDo backup if I had less than 4GB left on my C drive.
Restoring NoDo
You must restore NoDo before the Mango update is released, according to Microsoft. This applies to everyone, including registered developers.
To restore NoDo, run the Restore.bat file. Alternatively, the updated version provides a readme.txt file for manual restoring instructions.

anyone know if this phone will work in Malaysia?....if it does im going to buy it :)

@accidentvictim
It is a quad band 850/900/1800/1900 frequency world phone. Malaysia works on primarily a 900, but some carriers are 900/1800 bands. If it is unlocked then it would work on 2G frequency in Malaysia, but 3G only works in U.S. and Europe.

Don't think so. I think it'll be a few more weeks.
