I had my camera on the wrong setting for the other videos and could not make a long enough video to have time to really see what was going on. In this video I assist the pendulum most of the time to maintain the swing. So I could study the actions of the up and down motion of the pivot point. And positioning of the pendulum at each moment in time. This is also why I made the pendulum so long. It makes for a slower cycle and makes it easier to see the details of movement.
The plane now, is to build the new pendulum I discussed in the earlier video, that is by far more aerodynamically designed.

Next we want to build a Verge & Foliot Escapement to power the pendulum. Much in the same way as a Grand Father pendulum clock (with weights, chains, and all). This may take a little trial and error work as we have never build any kind of escapement before now. Any help in this department would be welcomed with open arms and many thanks.

The frame work for these test rig was built very large and weighs almost 900 pounds. We did this knowing we were not going to get it right the first time. And we wanted a solid and stable base to work from. Every piece of the base and frame work is of heavy, thick steel. This makes it very easy to alter for different tests and experiments. Heck !!! Cutting torch, welding machine, and a few hours work. WA LA ,,, whole new machine.

  • Keep up the good work. If you search on "Green Steam", you will see an interesting way to convert reciprocating motion to rotary motion.

  • @chatsworth777 Thanks I will check it out

  • Hi, Can you please show a self running 2 stage set up. Thanks

  • @eckyspondoolie I'm working on it Thanks.

  • Here's a good Idea, how about set the lever to a specific frequency. Allow me to explain.

Since the reciprocating frequency of the lever is twice that of the pendulum, would it be more efficient to put a spring on the lever and we tune both, such that, as the pendulum resonates, the lever resonates as well. That way we have ourselves a two-stage Resonator.

  • @okayillgonow A pendulum is self timeing the sesonce is adjusted by the leingth. the lever resonince is automaticly set to the resonince of the p[endulum and IS twice that of the pendulum.

  • Also, was the natural frequency the spring-and-lever part of the two-stage oscillator twice that of the pendulum frequency?

  • Is it ok if you could show me? I didn't see them in his videos.

  • Milkovic has springs in his small prototypes. re: his videos.

  • good work!
