here are some of the basic 2 man loop training at UK IMA

we are mainly building the following attributes:

- recognisation of lines of force or attack,
- fine alteration of incoming force
- angulation
- flow
- structural feedback
- dynamic (not fixed) stepping and footwork
- focus
- co-ordination

Although these methods directly relate to some tactical application in real combat, the main aim is to train the attributes above without thinking of the methods as 'fighting' or 'combat'

  • Is this from Xingyiquan, mainly?

  • @akirahojo2

Yes the core ideas are mainly from Xing Yi. You can see that the first loop relates to Beng, the second pi, the third Tsuan, fourth Pao, fifth Heng. There are some other elements of our training in there too though and some of these loops can be seen in other Chinese and SE Asian styles.

    All the best.

  • Well done Chris. I really like these!
