@mattglen2000 Funny, I didn't know these cameras had disc shutters, haha! Nice video and shallow DOF shots. I'm not happy about two thing though, the slight lack of sharpness and choppiness of the video. Why is this? Does it have to do with the compression/format? This is something that has puzzled me for years, I don't understand much about formats and their differences, or coding issues.

This is the best use of the EX3 that I have ever seen. I've had an EX3 for about 4-5 years now and have been told on many occasions that I achieve better results than the camera was designed to deliver. This is proof that it's more about the user of the tool than the tool itself. I obviously have a lot to learn. GREAT work, Matt. I'm inspired.

Cranking is an old term used when cameramen had to physically crank the film reel to get the action caught on film. This term has now been adopted as a term for speeding up/ slowing down film. Overcranking means you get more frames per second resulting in a slow mo effect.

How much does this camera cost?

I love the EX series. Are the normal speed shots 24p?

Nice cameras huh? No, these were shot at 25p with a 180 degree angle shutter.

Really glad you're enjoying the video. I've had lots of requests for tech specs so here goes: No DOF adaptors - just shot at 2.8 wherever poss to increase DOF. Over crank shot at 720p in S & Q mode at 60fps/ under crank shot at 1080p on S & Q mode at 1 fps. Graded on magic bullet Looks. Hope that helps!

@mattglen2000 hi matt, im a bit new to this cam stuff so bear with me but when you say you shot at 2.8 to get a better dof, are you talking about the iris 2.8? i dont own a dslr so i would like to know how to get good dof shots with my gy-hm100.

@biskeybee: That's right. The wider you open the iris the shallower the DOF will become. This is necessary on cameras like the EX3 as the chip that receives this light is very small meaning unless you do this, the image will be sharp throughout.
