Cristina Lewarne came to Latincouver's networking event to inspire us about her successful business story in Vancouver. After closing a failed art gallery in Vancouver, Cristina Lewarne, a Brazilian with 2 small kids and a husband working in Africa, started her store, Crocodile Baby, with only $1,000 and her courage in 1999. With little English, she negotiated her way to become the premier high end baby store in Vancouver and one of the top 3 stores in Canada. Good taste, hard work, and a tough financial approach are elements of her success. But the secret of her success is humility it doesnt matter what you had or did in the old country, it matters what new frontiers you can conquer here. By 2008, she was chosen as one of the 100 Top Women Entrepreneurs in Canada, a ranking she continues to maintain through 2010.
