WARREN, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a natural gas explosion at a commercial laundry in Detroit's northern suburbs leveled the building and injured two passers-by.

Warren police Lt. Craig Garwood says no one was in the building when the explosion happened around 8:10 p.m. He says the two who were hurt did not have life-threatening injuries.

Garwood says firefighters had the blaze under control and were putting out hot spots about 10:45 p.m.

The blast was felt several miles away.

Len Grice lives about two blocks from the explosion site. He told the Detroit Free Press that "it felt like a truck was crashing into the house."

Tracey Wilczak lives more than four miles away. The Warren resident reports feeling the blast, then seeing a big cloud of smoke.
