Most people label everything she does as soul, blues or r&b, but this song was actually nominated for best pop female vocal performance at the grammy awards & so was natural woman & say a little prayer

Just because a song is pop(ular) doesn't mean that it's not r&B or blues-y, or soul. Most of the hip-hop and rap out nowadays is pop but that's only because it sells and is programmed by very many radio, cable, and television stations (their accompanying videos).
