Dr Michael Paraskos presents a personal film on the relationship between realist painting, faith and reality, featuring the paintings of the British artist Clive Head.
Michael, I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you for sharing this. I wonder if you could share more thoughts on the trappings of conceptualism (Duchamp) and the hijacking of creative products that we now have less of as a direct result of it. Clives' work is terrific, and I know it's so much more than photorealism. From my perspective both you and Clive are refreshing my faith in contemporary painting. I also enjoyed the Aphorisms at Irsee. Can you elaborate on your "rules of true art?"
Thank you Michael for such an inspiring little film which counters the predominant way that art is normally regarded. At the heart of my work is the desire to create something new, not illustrate the mundane. That puts creativity and not dialogue at the centre of art. It is astonishing that such a faith is so at odds with the mainstream.I fail to understand those who want to denigrate your insight and slander what I do, but it only proves the real need for art in such nihilistic times. Thank you
