These are the signs we use with our 2 Deaf Dogs; Rocket & Coco. Coco has her CGC when she was 2 years old. Had some requests to include this video for others to see. :)

Deaf dogs are great :) visit their myspace page for more info about them http://www.myspace.com/cocoboston

good stuff, thanks! my dog is not deaf, but I found that teaching him sign language for things like sit, down, and stay is useful in loud or crowded areas where i would normally have to shout or repeat several times due to distracting noises. my 6 month old poodle puppy already has the signs for 'sit' and 'stay' figured out. impresses people more than verbal commands too. I look forward to using your videos for training purposes often!

Thanks :) using signs is definitely a perk for hearing or deaf dogs :)

We found a dog and she responds to sounds and she knows sit but she will only stay or stop jumping by doing the signs(I know ASL because my cousin is deaf). No one has claimed her and I hope we can keep her:) Is there is any reason that she would know ASL other then being deaf? Could she have had a deaf owner?

It could have had deaf owners for sure :) or maybe savvy owners ... most dogs respond to signs better than voice commands since they rely so heavily on body language.

I have a deaf Lab. She knows most of the signs your dogs do, except for bath I think. I do a couple of them different and probably not all quite correct as I had to learn from a book and the web. I also use the obedience ones that are typically used for sit, down, come. She also knows cheese, birds, bug, weave and a few other tricks. It is sad to see a deaf dog that does not know at least a few signs including "I Love You"!

I finally made a video showing the signs we use for Knuckles! Of course I forgot a couple, but there will be a part 2.
