This is part one of my tour of where I grew up in the Bronx and my process in creating the turntable science. Journalists get it correct, the dawn of Hip Hop was in the 70's!!!
"...this is before anybody seen a person and take their hand and touch the vinyl and move it back and forth and spin it back... it didn't exist... it didn't exist until I thought about it in this building, this is where it happened.... My name is Grandmaster Flash, I am the first DJ to make turntables an instrument." - THE MAN IS LEGEND... A LIVING FUCKIN LEGEND
Now after New Orleans the home of jazz I gotta visit Bronx to see where it all came from, the building should be used as a museum of hip hop ancestry.
...well, there's Pierre Schaeffer of musique concrete from the 1940s who did 3 deck scratching, it's so experimental it's unlistenable. But yea, grandmaster flash is the dude who actually got the technique musically excellent, schaeffer dropped the phonograph in favour of tape splicing, he wanted a sampler really. Got to set it straight that strictly the use of turntables as an instrument happened much earlier.
Gwan Grandmaster! You rock, that's for *sure*! Big respect from London!!!
@LUKUS909 WORD!! "THEODORE" was better than "Flash" Thats what HipHop is all about Competition... I Was There!!
