Perhaps. But New Agers take that thinking to its most extreme level. Even someone indoctrinated into the most stringent of cults is still essentially a human being. But New Agers literally are talking about (and hoping for) a complete physiological DNA change into a different species where we can be just like the hivemind telepathic space aliens they so often seem to deify. I'm not even questioning the idea that it could happen. I'm just chagrinned that so many people want it to happen.

I find it horrifying the multitudes of people (a lot of them are so-called spiritual "New Agers") who think the ultimate pinacle of humanity and spiritual perfection will be when we're all "one" and perpetually connected as a mass hivemind like the Borg. (New Agers tend to think this will be due to a spontaneous "spiritual evolution.") Apparently the loss of all indivuality and independent thought is the (wonderful) destiny of humanity. Just infinite group think and collectivism. Hooray!
