Photos about the transformation: 0:31"
A few starts and landings: 1:12"

I bought the Multiplex EasyCub with the idea to modify it after some initial tests in the original set-up. Before working on it I was reading through various threads in RC forums in order to decide which way to go. One of the best learings was the concept of using the my Dremel to cut very precise bays for servos and horns as well as for cable runs. I used the Multiplex primer before painting with a cheap acryl-based spray from a supermarket.

Model: Multiplex, EasyCub: http://www.multiplex-rc.de/
Electronics supplier: HobbyCity, http://www.hobbycity.com/

Motor: Turnigy 35-36C (1100KV, 330W)
ESC Turnigy Plush 40A
Propeller: Turnigy cherry wood 10x7"
LiPo: Zippy 2200mAh (20c)
Wheels: 90mm light foam wheel

Radio: Spektrum DX7 transmitter, AR6200 receiver
Servos: 4 x HXT900 (ailerons, rudder, elevator), 2 x HXT500 (flaps)

This RC plane is an excellent option for beginners and also for areal photography since it can be controlled very smoothly

  • What is the wingspan?

  • @MiG21fan It's 140 cm (55"). Since then Multiplex has a better product that includes most of the mods. It's called FunCub and has the same wingspan, but ailerons and flaps included.

  • If you once will have a few minutes time left and some wood-like color available: Paint a high efficient prop to achieve nice scale appearance as with the wooden one. Maybe you have a friend with an airbrush set...

  • @worldbestpilot thanks for your comment. I may consider this additional work for an RC scale plane but not for this transformed foamy. It now looks already different and it's currently on floats. But the hint is definitely justified and I replaced the wooden prop by a (black) APC prop....

  • what paint did you use?

i have ordered a skyartec cessna 182 made from foam and i am thinking to paint it when it arrives from hobbycity.

  • Hello it's a cheap acrylic spray from a supermarket. To prepare the Elapor (Multiplexes foam) I used the primer before painting. This can probably not be applied to the Skyartech model since it is not made of Elapor. What you can try is to sand the surface of the foam and spray directly on the foam - good luck!
