Compilation of introductions by Tom Baker, continuity announcements and a trailer for this special evening of programming, which culminated in a late night screening of Doctor Who The Movie. While still slightly edited compared to the US version, this print did restore almost 2 minutes of footage cut from the original 1996 BBC1 Premiere.

"I'm called Paul McGann in this one..." :)

The three Mark Gatis & David Walliams skits have been omitted, but appear as extras on the DVD box set - DOCTOR WHO The Beginning. The documentaries "Adventures in Time and Space" & "Carnival of Monsters" are probably kicking about YouTube.

  • In 1999, I was one of that rare breed of speck 7-year-old that had actually known what Doctor Who was for years. Then, this happened... and not only was I overjoyed, but as of next day I was no longer alone in the playground.

This brings back many happy memories :)

  • Dalek in dead space 3:25

  • @KeyToTime I sure hope they do, it would be a fantastic time to do it while we have so many doctors.

  • @ocerg1111 They could bring back Sylvester McCoy and Collin Baker too if he loses a few pounds! Traditionally that happens once every ten years on doctor who's anniversary, so the next one should be 2013, so fingers crossed.

  • you've gotta love that theme at the end with the woman singing lol

  • i was 7 at that time and i didn't know nothing about dr who but i have fond memories of thoese 2's being like daleks

  • tom baker, peter davison, the current 3 doctors (eccleston, tennant, smith) all of them could be brought in to do a smash-up reuinion episode or 2 in the style of "the three doctors" etc. I really wish they would do this while some of the odler doctors are still around

  • The female vocal version of the theme reminded me quite a bit of the original Star Trek series theme.

  • 13/12/1999 was the night I became a Doctor Who fan :)

  • This was how I discovered Doctor Who, by taping this.

As you can probably guess, it was, and still is, the single greatest video tape I own. :D
