Wow, I'm an oldschool FX artists myself-animatronic masks, muscle/hair suits, and such. But I like what I see here. Better than some stuff I see on SyFy.

Thanks to all for the kind comments and constructive critisism. Hopefully I'll have an improved showreel to go up soon as a lot of this is getting pretty old now. The biggest downside for me was that a lot was built on poor quality video footage. With luck the next showreel should look sharper :) Cheers again guys

Did you make the dalek?

Yeah I made the Dalek in 3DS Max. I used images from my daughters Dr Who mag for reference.

I found all I know about Syntheyes from the official tutorials online. I'm not an expert by any means. The software did all the hard work for me :). You should try the demo as it's fully functional apart from the export.

Hey Shady110,
I'm real happy you like the work. The things to work on to get 3D stuff to blend well is matching the lighting, saturation, contrast and film grain. The camera angles need to match too. One other thing that some people forget is light bleed. I could go into more depth but basically it's what gives objects soft edges in photographs.
You can do this for stills within Photoshop but for video I'd recommend a program like After effects, Combustion, Fusion or Shake.
