Established in 2007, Margdarshak is a new generation micro finance institution operating in Uttar Pradesh, India. Strategic support to Margdarshak is provided by DIA- Vikas, the Indian entity of Opportunity International, Australia. Working towards creating a holistic model of microfinance, Margdarshak is involved in supporting financial access with enterprise development and market access services. The provision of financial services is supported by a host of initiative ranging from financial literacy of the clients, enabling them in accessing new markets and developing their enterprise management & technical abilities. We at Margdarshak always believed that capital in itself will never enable a family in coming out of poverty. Underlying this is the requirement of undertaking self-sustaining and market driven interventions Margdarshak is involved in supporting financial access with enterprise development, market access & financial literacy initiatives. Within the gamut of livelihood strengthening interventions, Access to markets assumes an important place and through Twinkling Shades (Margdarshak's market access brand), we envision creating a vertical which will enable the producers in getting a fair value of their labour and produce.
The social intermediation of Margdarshak involves conducting business skills and technical skill training for women and youth. Margdarshak is involved in providing leadership and financial literacy training which can be integrated with the training on credit discipline, group discipline and credit usage to SHG leaders in its operational areas. Margdarshak conducts technical training programmes for un-employed youth and women with the support from NABARD and SIDBI. Part of overall employment generation and economic development strategy, the programs enables rural and urban youth along with women in developing technical skills for new age enterprises and women (for new products in zari work) subsequently Margdarshak facilitates the entrepreneurs in accessing financial assistance also provide microfinance loan to the women trained in embroidery work for enabling them in upscaling their enterprises. The products and services of Margdarshak are born out of understanding that access to finance is not the complete solution to poverty. With this understanding the organisation is viewing itself as emerging one of the leading livelihoods supporting microfinance institution in the region.
