US President Barack Obama is to announce that the US will begin rotating marines through an Australian base in Darwin in a permanent new military presence, intensifying the alliance in a sign of heightened concern about War with China.
He is scheduled to make the announcement with Prime Minister Julia Gillard when they visit Darwin together next Thursday during Mr Obama's first visit to Australia as President.
The 26-hour visit will mark the 60th anniversary of the ANZUS alliance with America.

Dont think of it as a military base. Think of it as a precinct. See the world's policeman needs to have plenty of precincts in neighborhoods all over the world.

@sorrow962 Yes I have. I appreciate the fact that we're fighting on the same side, but when you make comments like that back them fucking up. They haven't been ripping US tech. for "years"; on the other hand, they've tried to. But that of course it different than them actually being successful in doing it.
