Little larva was searching for aphids but ends up in a speed bump of sticky sap. I got bit by one of these and it's very irritating!

This is purely a nature video thing. If bugs bore you, there's this magical little back button on the top left corner. If not, enjoy. :-)

  • Are these the guys with the web like stuff in them? And comes out when i kill it?

  • @thanatosanima Don't know. They do spin silk when they are about to pupate but that's about the only use..

  • These little shits will bite you, I just got bit today by one! =/

  • @wrxsubaru02 Yeah I got bit by one in high school just handling it. It was like a really weak mosquito bite, but it left a tiny red, itchy bump. Interesting thing is that the forceps seem to actually have the same function as a probosis. The aphid it was eating wasn't near the predator's head at all but it was still getting sucked dry! 0.0

  • I always thought these were ant lion larvae.

  • Nah, I've never seen these guys dig a hole to trap ants with. I've kept one and it ate aphids, made a silken coccoon and came out a lacewing. Does look like an ant lion, though. Sigma1920 has some good videos on ant lions. :-)
