@Jinxownzu This one I remember. Akuma says "You still havent transcended your humanity" and Ryu answers "You haven't transcended your humanity, you've thrown it away!". I dont remember him adressing Ryu as his student tho.

@MrSloopful Also, in SSFIV arcade mode, Ryu and Akuma have a cutscene where Akuma asks Ryu if he has finally transcended his humanity, addressing him as though he was his student.

@Jinxownzu Nope. Gouken mastered the art of Ansatsuken and controled the power of Satsui no Hado, passing his teachings to Ryu and Ken. Gouki, however, gave in to the Satsui no Hado and killed Goutetsu and Gouken. However, Gouken had developed a technique that made it possible for his spirit to continue alive, making his return in SF4.

@KilanoProject2 I dun think Capcom care much about the storyline. They just care about which character that can be potentially bringing lots of money to their pocket, and boom! those characters will be introduced. Then they spend 1 night to wrap up the storyline.

Ryu don't do teaching, he is traveling the earth and space [tatsunoko vs capcom] to improve,
last known teacher is Oro from SF3ThirdStrike
Sakura Copy's Ryu's style because she is a Fan. She modified it.
Karin is jelly because she want to be best at everything, so she starts Fighting...
