Best Practices in Emergency Preparedness for Child Serving Organizations (Part 1: Highlights)

An emergency planning guide for child-serving organizations was released October 25 at an ARCHS' co-sponsored "Policy Forum." It was also co-sponsored by Promising Practices Network, RAND Corporation, Family and Community Trust (FACT), Missouri Center for Education Safety, Missouri Department of Public Safety, and Missouri School Boards' Association.

"Policy Forum: Best Practices in Emergency Preparedness for Child Serving Organizations" welcomed hundreds of emergency personnel throughout the State of Missouri at the one day event at Lake of the Ozarks. The forum was moderated by Paul H. Fennewald, Coordinator for Missouri Office of Homeland Security, and featured presentations by Admiral Thad W. Allen, U.S. Coast Guard, retired and Senior Fellow, Rand Corporation; Dr. C.J. Huff, Superintendent of Joplin Public Schools; Lowell C. Kruse, Chair of the Board of Directors for FACT; Dr. M. Rebecca Kilburn, Director of Promising Practices Network, RAND Corporation; Dr. Anita Chandra, Behavioral Scientist on Public Health Systems and Preparedness, RAND Corporation, and Dr. Carter Ward, Executive Director, Missouri School Boards' Association.
