2004 grand prix gtp CompG with 3inch down pipe, 180 tstate, 3.6 pulley, colder plugs, cold air intake, zzp PCM, flowmaster 44 mufflers. The RX8 was stock as far as i know.

@humanparody12 Yeah they don't handle horribly. Being FWD I find they are a little heavy in the nose when diving in to a corner but body roll is fairly minimal. I'd still say the RX8 is definitely going to handle better though and it might have a bit more of a fun to drive quality being a RWD manual transmission.

Truth is, they don't handle THAT bad to begin with. I can live with a slight handling disadvantage if it's got better acceleration.

i would like to point out after owning an 04 rx8 grand touring that i get a good 22 mpg at normal highway operating conditions but the downside with the manual trans is that you take the hit and get poor city mpg at around 16 if you take off at lights and drive like a general jackass. Also the track verses drag debate is pointless the rx8 is made for its handling not speed alone. While most of the american cars mentioned where built with the muscle cars of the past in mind i.le drag style race.

@mrsinistertoyou I think I owned a Lincoln Navigator that got about the same highway fuel efficiency as an RX8 (okay slight exaggeration but still RX8's have horrible gas mileage). Also the non-sc V6 is 200 horsepower. Even the 3.4L was still 170-180hp depending on the year. Even a heavily modded Grand Prix is going to outlive a stock RX8 and it will be much quicker. True it may not handle as well, but in a straight line it will get you there faster.

@GMisurdaddy The GM 3.8 Series 2 V-6 is an oversized, underpowered piece of junk, but clearly you know nothing about engineering. Its not even in the top 20 best motors ever made.  You entire post makes you sound like an uninformed redneck who is happy with an inefficient engine. 240 HP from a -supercharged- V6 is pathetic. 165 HP from the non-SC V6 is very sad. My RX8 will run circles around a GTP at a track. Or are you one of those idiots that think the dragstrip is how you test a car?

Oh and one more thing, I'm sorry that most of us grown ups drive responsibly on the street and have no reason to "understeer" into trees. so my 240HP car weighs 3,800lbs and will do 0-60 in 6.4 seconds and gets 30MPG too
