id say he used grey was to outline the scales then looks like he's shading with 3 rs which is that small it would appear to some as a liner but judging by the fact he's getting a smooth blend and consistency id say it was a round shader! besides even if it was a liner i believe cory from la ink uses a 1 round liner to shade small areas! so if it works for you do it not every artist adapts the same style..

i doubt its a liner...nice soundin machine...i dig it i need to see the finished piece...from this view i dont think i like the style.

@neckha1r i agree with you i would have use a 7 mag but thats just what in used to.
-
*sigh* whatever.... And you're right, I don't know how to tattoo, just like you don't even know who Bob Tyrell is. seriously dude, I've got a massive clientele and ps: I don't refer to shading as "raking" or that it's "too wide." I myself can stay inside the freakin' lines LOL jesus
-
@Bijou77 how is it bad to shade with a liner those are small scales so you wouldn't want to use a mag or a flat shader for it the rake would be to wide obviously someone doesn't know how to tattoo i.e. you

What type of needle did you use?

saw the flickr pix.. sick tats u got there.. u gonna get a color for the coy fish?

Looks like he's using a round shader...I prefer round shaders over mags...but anyway, I doubt he's using a liner to shade.

I've added a link to the description. The tattoo was completed over a year and a half ago. It's beautiful.
