My brother and I go through all the stages of a simulated army qualification test from Fred's Guide to becoming a Rifleman. The test is made up of four stages, the first three worth 50 points and the last stage worth 100 points. Each stage is shot timed from 25 yards. As near as I can figure this test is based on the AQT that was used by the army with the M1 garand, though the instruction also borrows from highpower.
First stage is simulated 100 yards standing, 1 magazine with 10 rounds 2 minutes
Second stage is simulated 200 yards transition from standing to kneeling or sitting, 2 magazines, one with 2 rounds one with 8 rounds, 55 seconds
Third stage is simulated 300 yards transition from standing to prone, 2 magazines, one with 2 rounds one with 8 rounds, 60 seconds
Fourth stage is simulated 400 yards prone, 1 magazine with 10 rounds, 5 minutes

Each shot is worth a possible 5 points, with the last stage's score being doubled scoreing a rifleman's score (over 210) is extremely difficult, If you think otherwise I suggest you go out and try! for more information check out http://www.appleseedinfo.org/

  • Nothing like an Army Qualification. More like a scaled down NRA High Power match.

  • @HWyman1775 yea Im not exactly sure what the origin is, but they call it a simulated AQT

  • Can you use a scope for Appleseed AQT?

  • @piscatorialphd yes, but iron sights are encouraged

  • Great video! I recently attended an appleseed, my instructors called me lucky. I shot Rifleman my first attempt, i proved to them it wasn't luck by doing it again. But out of the fourteen adults shooting with me I was the only one to successfully achieve Rifleman. I am only 15, I loved the course so much i want to attend another one!

  • @popman000100 that is quite the feat! less than ten percent of participants attain rifleman is what they usually say at each appleseed, so to do it twice on your first try is really impressive! you should take some footage next time to show us what youre doing right!

  • No Chicken wing, rifle is too low in pocket, and no sling use?

  • @IssunQuixotic It's the test they used back in the day. The current Army test has removed the longer distances but the USMC test is still pretty similar to the old AQT.

  • @popman000100 Huzzah!!!!!!! now if only I could get rifleman

  • I just got it on my own property, got a 210 with 47 out of 50 on the standing. Probably could have done alot better on last stage, i was rushed and I did good on the first 3 400m targets but on the last one I missed twice and barely hit the 6 on my 3rd try, so i'll probably do good next time but i guess i can't brag until i actually do better. No wittiness and on my own property so i still don't have the patch, time to go to an another appleseed!

  • @HWyman1775 Its the aqt they used in the 30's (except scaled down for 25m)

  • @IssunQuixotic You still have the risk of an out of battery discharge and other problems. IIT4 Appleseed Instructor.
