He came out for a swim after he ate one shrimp, so I offered him another which he ate, then swam around and back into his hide out

  • Is it freshwater? or brackish? Cant be both.

  • Actually they can be, and are. Although... they do prefer brackish water, but they can be permanently kept in freshwater. When in freshwater they are much more sensitive to water conditions so if you're not very careful or don't know what you're doing they will eventually die.

  • your flying fox looks amazing, and those dark fins make it look more shark like than the red tailed sharks. This one looks big too-do they become agressive and hurt other bottom fish of simmilar size?

  • thanks, there is actually a red tail shark in there with him and he pretty much only has a problem with him, he doesn't mess with the fish and they don't mess with him. Him and the red tail will just chase each other for a bit and nip sometimes but no harm really done. He's also a bit bigger now too.

  • i wsant one do they live with tropical fish i mean in water thats not salt i mean i know it eats other fish:(

  • I think they'll eat anything small enough to fit in their mouth

  • Make sure you keep it well fed when kept with other fish. Mine tries to jump out if not well fed and overnight he ate one of my dragon gobys all the way down to the bone when he didn't eat for 3 days.

  • Nice Moray, Do you have any salt in your tank, is it Freshwater or Brackish?

  • @crisp330 how big can they get?

  • ppl say that their lifespans are shortened by alot in freshwater

  • i just bought a brackish eel.

i was told they eat feeder minnows, and bloodworms. does your eel's diet consist mostly of shrimp??

  • so hes healthy? and how do you prevent him from dying? did you put any salt in there? and what kind of eel is that?

  • Either way, you have a great looking tank =]

  • you can acclimate some fish to different water types, some fresh can even go to marine. But it is still a fresh water fish and not a marine fish. So just because you can force it to live in a different habitat than what its used to.. a brackish is brackish, fresh is fresh, and marine is marine. Thats basically what i was getting at.
