Gilmore Girls - Season One - Kill Me Now

Strawberry Swing - Lorelai talks to Sookie about the fight between Lorelai and Rory regarding Rory going with Richard to the club. I have to say this was the first time I was annoyed with Lorelai because she thought Rory wanted the socialite life with cotillions, tea parties, and socials. Sookie clearly stated what the "real issue" was--Lorelai was jealous that Rory was getting along with her parents better than she has. Lorelai was obsessing over Rory actually liking her parents and participating in their life/lifestyle. This was the first time where you could see Lorelai's habit of selective hearing when it comes to the truth. She did not respond to Sookie's response but prattles on. Lorelai responds to Sookie's comment by questioning herself if she is sabotaging Rory and her grandparents relationships. At this point of the show, I say Yes. What do you think?

i agree, at the beginning of the show lorelai hates her parents so much and wants rory to be like her and it confounds her that rory could get along with her parents. lorelai can be really pigheaded sometimes
