A famous Jewish writer and historian, Flavius Josephus
(37-100 AD), wrote this book originally in Aramaic and translated it into Greek. It started from the conquest of Israel and Jerusalem by the Syrian King Antiochus Epiphanes (ruled c. 175-164 BC), and effectively ended with the conquest of Jerusalem by General (and later Roman Emperor) Titus in 70 AD. This edition of the book was translated by the British writer G.A. Williamson. It was reprinted in Israel in 1959 Steimatzky's Agency (the original publisher was Penguin Books Ltd in London, UK). The opinions expressed are those of the editor and of the original writer.
