When the Dell XT debuted with multi-touch drivers last spring we were excited about the ability to use multiple fingers on its capacitive touch screen to rotate pictures and pinch and zoom in on Web sites. But at over $2,000 (the starting price now is about $1,800) we just couldnt recommend it to the regular consumer. Todays debut of the $1,299 HP TouchSmart tx2z changes the game for multi-touch tablets not only, because its affordable but also because its the first multi-touch tablet aimed at consumers.

We got a detailed look at the TouchSmart tx2z and even shot an exclusive video of the multi-touch in action. Read on below to see what we think of the tablet and its touch experience. More information at www.laptopmag.com.

  • He's Holding The Screen?

    WTF?

  • That's not true at all, nearly all programs (at least the ones that I use) take advantage of both of my cores. This is in Windows 7 64 bit.

  • The EliteBook is much better than the consumer junk, the touch seems to uncalibrate it self allot on the consumer version

  • I used to have it, however the biggest problem I have to admit was that when you delete the Mediasmart software, I was never able to get it to properly install again. Had fun with it, but its time for mobility.

  • im using it right now...im typing using laptop as a tablet...touch is responsive simple touch

  • hey i want to ask you somethng... what is the differences between TX 1000 and TX2z???

  • I do not ever want to get a PC from HP again they put soooo much crap-ware on there computers!

  • ipad is cheaper and better plus android tablets gonna be awesome whn thy come out HP sucks :D

  • @12345maan same thing happened to me

    boycott hp!

  • It maybe touchscreen, but the its not as amazing as it looks(I was fooled by the coolness) I barely use the touchscreen because the pointer jumps everywhere and it has no pen pressure so its no good for drawing

Also, its really slow, it takes about 5 mins for it to start-up

and its gets crazy hot and so It crashes a lot! I need to put a fan right into the hot spot just to use it.

And now its a year old, It NO LONGER TURNS ON! I ran out of warranty already.

    I warn U, DON'T BUY IT!

  • when he meant hand on he meant HANDS ON!!!!!
