The Clumsy Mule

Jerry Clower was a late bloomer in the entertainment industry. He was already in his 40s when he recorded "A Coon Huntin' Story." This story was so popular that he soon had a national forum. Clower went on to entertain millions with his comedic tales of the Ledbetter family and other characters.

Unlike most stand-up comedians, Clower shunned one line jokes in favor of short stories with a punch line at the end. Sometimes he would throw you a curve by making it an inspirational illustration rather than a joke. He frequently drew you into his world with subjects that anyone familiar with a rural upbringing could appreciate.

To top it off, he was clean. As Clower said, "I ain't never made an album you couldn't play in church."

Clower passed away in 1998 at the age of 71.

I saw him live several times at Southern fair grounds and conventions. He was truly a showman and a fine human being.

He was gonna shoot her if she kept runnin her mouth and he got to three. Thats why they got along so good fifty years. Notice how he kept her in check all that time, because how strong his message was. lol.

I have been a fan of Clowers' from back when I was young. I have used one of his line all my life, "shoot up among us, one of us got to get some relief. If you like Jerry Clowers "clean" humor you have to here Jerry Jordan's "Phone call from God" here on youtube

I can promise everyone right now that Jerry has the Lord and ALL the angels around him laughing till their sides hurt. Great man and CHRISTIAN. Wish that I could have had a chance to talk with him in person but loved his albums. R.I.P. Jerry, can't wait untill I get to meet you again and have us a talk from one good old southern boy to another. Just have to wonder though about what GOD had to say about that Newgene joke. LOL I know HE sees the humor in it!!!
