Any particular advantages to maxing out Phase Shift Armor all the time at the expense of health and thrusters?

By maxing out PS I can have the lowest Health and the additional handicap of less thrusters/guard cancel.
My play style utilizes thrusters a lot so the low setting definitely makes it a bit more challenging.
It's a good thing ground dashing doesn't take up thruster bar, as a result I take full advantage of that when I play.

the exclusion of Destiny, Legend, and Akatsuki means this game fails as a Gundam seed "Destiny" game! :( and its not like it would've been harder to just make Legend an "L" or "R" character like Cagalli and Mwu :(
sword and blast impulse really waste character slots :(

well aside from the fact that sword and blast could have been L or R characters for impulse as well as Lunamaria. I believe this game came out before or at least at the beginning of Destiny. So by that point I don't even think the mech designs for those units were done let alone any spriting to include them in the game.

I like Gaia's design as well. If it's beam saber attacks were not so lagged it'd be a fav suit of mine.
It has one of if not the fastest beam rifle draw in the game.
I wish they made a 1/100 model of it too. Boo Bandai!
