I don't like cynical comedy very much, listening to people gripe is annoying but you're different from me so take it for what it is, I think his comedy sucked but I don't like his cynical clones either all loaded with angst and hate and I don't care for his vulgarity either, to me it's a lack of character to be a dirty mouthed comedian loaded with so much sarcasm, tell me when is it that sarcasm becomes boring ?

Thank you so much for pointing out my generalization. I totally agree, I shouldn't have generalized him. He is all of those and so much more. He's taught (me) everyone so much ... if only people would listen to what he is saying and not just hear his jokes. Thank you. :)

Stanhope is the only one that in my opinion stands up to giants like Hicks and Carlin. He doesn't get as much press, probably because he's too confrontational, but he's a fucking genius. Go check it out.

Yeah, sure, that's why he was the virtual mentor of just about every modern comedian, and why the entire fucking world, including everyone in show business, loves him. He left behind a great family that loved him countless friends, and a better world. He changed comedy and show business in general forever. He inspired millions. He did what he loved until the day he died, and he got better at it every day. Yup, certainly my definition of a miserable, cynical self righteous dick.
