No revelations here. Just a straightforward technique for brewing coffee in the Aeropress (which is also great for traveling too). Not an exacting brew method, but "real life" as it might happen on the road.

  • Tom, I tried something today I think you'd be interested in trying. I made Turkish coffee (with an ibrik I bought for your store, using the instructions you sent with it), and then poured the whole mixture into my Aeropress! The result was a Turkish tasting coffee without the grounds. It was pretty cool!

  • @JosephandElissa Interesting ... I have never tried to use the aeropress as a filter like that. Makes we want to get out an Ibrik and try it right now - except its the weekend and I dont have one here at home. Boo...

  • Does the Hario Mini Mill Slim Grinder fit with the Aeropress?

  • @dasnumerator Meaning does the top of the Hario Slim grind right into the aeropress well? No it doesn't really. It's a better travel mill than the larger Hario though, because of size and weight.

  • I LOVE EXPRESSO

  • @ageeb0 ME TOO! It's it the X that gives it that something Xtra...

  • @klarinetta heh - i think it's funny when people write expresso. You used to see it everywhere in the US and now everyone as corrected it to espresso. but some people serve something that isn't really deserving of being called espresso - i think they *should* call that expresso. gas stations should serve expresso beverages. -t

  • @dunnandrewj. Sorry, my thumb sent the last message by mistake. I wanted to say that I have yet to make a shot from my Aeropress that tastes close to the espresso I pull. What is your technique? I love the taste of the undiluted Aeropress though! I stopped making Aeropress "Americanos" after the first time I sipped the shot (so essentially right of the bat).

  • @dunnandrewj. I don't hun

  • Tom, did you try using the Aeropress to filter Turkish coffee yet? I find that because the grounds were filtered out, the coffee doesn't get any stronger as it sits. The first time I did it the coffee was to sweet, and I used the normal amount. I ended up cutting the sugar in half to get it right.

  • Bought an aeropress from your store and love it! I'm also a regular customer for green beans.

I'm going to display my ignorance here, but I'd be interested to get from you why exactly what comes out of the aeropress is not espresso. It sure tastes like the espresso I've had when I've been to Italy. Furthermore, articles I'm looking at define espresso as a concentrated coffee beverage brewed by forcing a small amount of nearly boiling water under pressure through finely ground coffee beans.

  • I meant I bought it from your store...

  • Just tried this and it does indeed make a damn fine cup of coffee. Thanks.
