Gillan's screams were sampled because his voice was usually wrecked in the 90's as a result of staying up all night drinking on tour. Apparently that was one of the main reasons Blackmore got annoyed with him, that and forgetting the words.

@seydsaba right, thats a alltime classic,...

didnt mean something so offensive, as you said. I put it in wrong words, sorry im foreigner. they are WEAKER in sound than DP for me. they are not WEAK but not so HEAVY too.
-
I mean the heaviness. What you say is true and right but I meant simply the "power". Always Deep Purple was stronger for me, heavier.

@OathBird LZ sound weak? Is this the same band that produced songs like How many more times, Whole lotta love and Heartbreaker? You can argue that LZ and DP took different directions, wich is completely true, but neither were weak at all! They just had different influences, LZ being more bluesy and in the later days a bit more experimental with more exotic sonorities and DP carrying the classical education of Blackmore and Lord, but to call LZ weak is just plain dumb.

Ritchie you are a great ! but " Made in Japan " is a long time ago..........

Comparing power, Deep Purple rocks all the way on. if you compare those both LZ sound... weak. I love Led Zeppelin as I do Deep Purple, but DP have the power and might :)
-
Well LZ might have been commercial, I'm not gonna argue with that, but sounded weak, no, you might want to check your music system pal, that's probably what sounds weak...

Not dissing all their material, but just listen to made in japan and tell me it's not the best hard rock album of all times.. each song is a masterpiece with incredible improvisation ...
LZ seemed to be more on the pop-rock side for me, but that's me....

I'm not the biggest LZ fan either. Starting with Houses of the Holy the strayed from Hard Rock and starting playing with more accoustic guitars and Orchestras. I think that's what seydsaba was perhaps trying to say. Songs like "Kashmere" and "Over The Hills And Far Away" were far more commercial than anything DP had ever done.
Deep Purple is the Ultimate Hard Rock band ever!
LZ never grew on me as a Hard Rock Band as they were too commercial and sounded weak.
All members of DP were masters/virtuosos with awsome musical powers, which is unmatched until today.
