actually this boxxworrior gym is the only gym that has thai people as the trainers. another boxxworrior is at Kulim, Kedah.

Was the 'flavor' of the Muay Thai different in Malaysia vs. Thailand?

No, the training was almost identical,. the teachers were all thai. the main difference was that in thailand everyone trains full time but in malaysai people had jobs, so muay thai was a fitness hobby.
