Just showing the display and how the AWD system works. In dry temperatures above 38F, the car automatically runs in RWD. As I show in the video, if you shift over to manual mode it automatically engages the AWD system, then reverts back to RWD if you shift back out of it (or shift out of Drive as I did in the video). Also, AWD engages if you turn off the ESP, along with a number of other variables (depending upon temperature, weather, etc.).

  • So it's RWD until you put it into AWD mode now? also what do you get for MPGs?

No, sorry for that confusion. The AWD engages automatically in normal driving but there are ways to manually engage the AWD version, primarily by switching the transmission into the manual mode as I did in this video. Hope that clears that all up! As for mileage, it's returning about 19.7 right now on a pretty even balance of city and highway driving, which isn't bad in my opinion for a large heavy AWD sedan with a V-8. The upcoming eight-speed will hopefully do better.

Dodge started using this adaptive AWD system with the 2009 Chargers. The 2007 you are considering (and 2008s as well) use a full time AWD system. Depends on what you prefer. Hope that helps!
