A bead can be are easily placed around the neck of a stitch before it is worked, using either a very fine steel crochet hook, or a floss threader (easily found in any drug store). Here I demonstrate both methods on my sock pattern, HITHER & YON, which can be found in my eBook, CAT'S SWEET TOMATO HEEL SOCKS, or as a single pattern. You can buy them on Ravelry.com or directly from my website, CATBORDHI.COM.

  • If you take and put a large drop of craft glue, like from a glue gun, at the firm end of the floss strand, you can load multiple beads on the strand, Then use the same principle, thread the opposite end (the more pliable end) thru the yarn stitch, lay it next to the strand holding the beads and slide one bead down over the open end of the floss strand AND onto the stitch. This way you have multiple beads, say enough for one or 2 rows, loaded and you will save yourself time.

  • Wow, so much easier than knitting with a large number of beads hanging off your yarn! Loved that purl stitch method you used. Off to check that out next!

  • Absolutely brilliant!!! Thank you

  • Great great great tutorial. Thanks for sharing that small piece of wisdom with us. Is already archived among my precious craft tips. Have a great day!

  • I agree with Amy59440 ;)

May I know which weight the yarn is and the size of the bead?? thank you

  • Just the video I was looking for! I wanted to try knitting with beads and this video really helped.
