Trouble Witches - Doujin Review

13th Review.A little gem from Studio Siesta (Soldier Force).For a Doujin, its really impressive.Actually,in Japan it also came out in the arcades!!!Graphically, it has beautifully illustrated sprites.Voices for all the characters.Detailed animated backgrounds for the levels,original enemies and bosses.Yeah, you guessed it,I love that gameEven though it might not be the most original of concept, the realisation is spot on.Same goes for the gameplay.You have 2 main weapons (and magic cards), a shot and a little character flying around you that when activated slows you down and swallows enemy bullets and spits them back out as gold coins.Youll have to collect the coins so that you can visit the floating shop and purchase magic cards.The cards for the most part are the equivalent of bombs in normal shmups,you can also purchase extra lives etc..
In the clip I recorded, I made the shop assistant too angry so she threw me out without having been able to purchase anything.So I did not show off the effects of these cards.Anyway,superb game that you must check out.Studio Siesta is working on a sequel but no release date has been announced yet.

Play the Xbox 360 version. It's amazing! There's even a new playable girl added only for Xbox, Sakurako chan (my favorite character so far :)

"Impressive for a doujin"? This game is impressive period. The graphics are incredible and the mechanic of the magic circle and buying spells is fun and very satisfying, instead of the clumsy gimmicks that plague many of these games.

The first version wasn't so tight, but the arcade mode after the patch is a solid 10/10 from me. If they finally decide to release the Engrish version it will be the first doujin game I'll buy.
