When Pet did this at Feinsteins last Friday night I fell in love all over again. Come back to NYC soon, Miss C!!!
-
I love her voice, I love this song and I LOVE THE REVERB in this performance.

@pupman2 Where's the microphone then?

@44032 The actual flip side of "Downtown" was "You'd Better love Me." What's remarkable about this record is that it is one of 11 Pet Clark hits to score in the U.S. but not in her native Britain.

I think I said earlier, it sounds like they filtered out her voice from original record mix and let her have at it live on stage. Aficionados of this song probably agree the music track is the original. Also, note that 1966 color cameras required BLASTING the stage with kleig lights but this lady held up like a trooper...not a bead of sweat. We are so fortunate to have this jewel of a video tape posted. At her peak as a professional.

wonderful song and artist!

This is my favortie Pet Clarke- sort of the flip side to "Downtown". This is deeper. Petula was contemptorary of Julie Andrews, even to the point of haveing been a chidl star in the 40's. She has a bit of Julie's class and elegance. If Julie Andrews sang rock, maybe she'd be Pet Clark. I love them both.

She's able to work the acoustics of that studio. Nobody like her!

I think I remember this song? Great voice! Simple and clear and elegant
I still "long to wake up in the morning and find everything has changed." A nice change would be stars appearing on the assorted red carpets actually fully clothed like this bright English star is here. I also wish people weren't so angry, rude and sarcastic. At least I remember a time when most people had faith in the future. Let's keep dreaming, hoping and working for the better days Petula Clark sings about. Peace & Love to ALL.
