I like how the drummer gets up from his kit while the drums on the tape are clearly still playing. I guess it was no secret that Top of the Pops was faked.

some of the more credible/cynical/capable bands used to do stuff to demonstrate they were miming - to show scorn for being told to play along. For instance tin machine's guitarist took fistfuls of pasta out of his pocket and spread it on the guitar instead of miming his solo...

Acts like this put revivalist danceable fun back into rock music in the late 70s.
