Otherwise abandoned pre-Pink line. Span used to transfer empty trains between the Blue Line and the rest of the CTA system.

  • In 1962 I learned how to operate the old 4000 series cars on this stretch of rusty track. Air brakes were really tricky.

  • @Larsky1010 You ran it south of lake St, if that strech of track north of there was torn down?

  • Ok, thank you. I left chicago a long time ago.

Did they do any renovation work, or dit they just use it the way it was?

  • New concrete supports were since added on that stretch. Hope to have new video from that area soon.

  • Is it still abondoned?

  • Pink Line uses it now (since June ´06).

  • @BitoftheDay In 1962 the Paulina connector was intact all the way northbound to Milwaukee Av., where the west/northwest subway portal was just north of Division St. I practiced operating 4000s the full distance from Milwaukee Av south to just north of the connection where the Douglas Park line rose from the Eisenhower Expy. The large truss bridge over C&NW tracks now still in use for railroad signals was a part of the line.
