I am from Exeter and I do not have a Devonshire accent. My accent is not regionally specific, it is quite a generic English accent.
My parents do not speak with a Devonshire accent but my brother does. He grew up in the same house as me. My grandparents had strong accents, my Dad doesn't but his brother does.
Your accent is not usually influenced by your family but by the people you listen to most - be they friends, colleagues, people at school or even on television and radio etc

Well, no. I don't talk funny at all.

@panachronic1 No accent?! Everyone has an accent, and I'm guessing yours is American considering you come from the US...

You talk like a fake posh bird, ofcourse there is a Devon accent, you talk in the generic students accent, the same as they do here in Bristol and the nation all over.It is fake wankers that are ashamed of their own accent with aspirations of middle class. If you are posher talking than your parents then it is fake. You are part of the reason that all local accents are dying out.
