@kawikahob1 fall 1955 or spring 1956 - Anita was 22 then

You are right June cannot hold a candle to Anita. She was the voice of the Carter Family. Looks and a voice like hers made her very popular with the family or as a solo performer. June was fair but Antia was great. It did look like Buddy Emmons on steel. He too was far better than most of the rest save Don Helms.

So fun to hear Anita's voice when she was so very young.

@Gatorrock787 Correct observation. Thanks big for this number. Could any one know which year was this.....?
-
Wonderful performance - by far, the best version of this song.
-
Love this version and also Merle Haggard's.
-
@Gatorrock787 June also had tremendous charm and she turned her weaknesses into an asset, a sure sign of a true artist and entertainer.

Anita should have been a SuperStar. Man,,what a voice! and what a knockout body as well!.. Wow.....
-
She was also married to Cashs' lead guitar player Bob Wooton.He played with Cash for decades after Luther Perkins died in '68.Anita and Bob had a daughter named Lorrie Bennett and she sings just like her mom.If you watch RFD-TV you can see her appear on the Marty Stuart show periodically.
I assume this was Johnny Cash's sister in law.

She is so much better than June.

@Grannybeck1 Well sure, Granny. Everyone knows that Anita had the best voice of the Carter sisters. June's talents were comedic for the most part.
