3 part series marking the ten-year anniversary of the war in Afghanistan, telling the story of the conflict through the words and pictures of the young soldiers themselves

Episode 2 - The Invisible Enemy The plight of the first troops sent to Afghanistan's Helmand Province in 2006, focusing on how, three years later, improvised explosive devices had changed the war. Captain Alex Rawlins films his men from 1st Battalion, the Grenadier Guards, and captures events surrounding the loss of Private Jamie Janes, who stood on a landmine during a patrol. The programme shows how the 23-year-old guardsman's death became a turning point in the British public's awareness of the human cost of IEDs. Narrated by Shaun Dooley.

  • What is that song he plays at 8:00? He has a good voice.

  • @Boultonnn No he just hit the wrong button!

  • my brother at 02:26 r.i.p x

  • It's a 1:1 engagement; infantry: one loss here, one loss there. How many Afghan fighters are there? How many of our own? The whole strategy is a failure. The Pakistanis are laughing at us. It's what it is all about. The Pakistanis. Poor British infantry. Brave men. Carry on!

  • Im only 14 but I remember what Gordon Brown said and just ashamed. I have a huge respect for these guys, Ill be lucky to be half of what they are. Bless them!

  • These soldiers are protecting England if u think about it britan would not be britan without it's army

  • Not sure if the UK has Veterans day, like here in the US. But happy Veterans day... Thank you for your service. I had the honor to serve with Britsh troops. Thank you

  • @grimblebrumble17889 im Naive? get out the house and have a look at real life maybe see what this war has done to families. This war tears families apart but it also brings them together but every time a soldier dies not once do the family say he died for nothing they always say they died for a reason. If you forget what the reason is it is to protect us NATIONAL SECURITY get out of your fucking house and look at the real world for once instead of what a pixelated screen tells you to think.

  • @TheUltimatekill69 Oh fuck off you naive cunt.

  • @grimblebrumble17889 how fucking dare you go die in a fucking hole. LEARN HOW TO FUCKING SPELL BEFORE YOU GO DISRESPECTING BRITISH TROOPS OKAY THESE MEN ARE TEN TIMES THE MAN YOU'LL EVER BE YOU WOULDNT LAST A MINUTE IN THEIR SHOES. THESE MEN ARE MORE THAN HEROES THEY DEFEND THEIR MATES, THEIR COUNTRY AND THEMSELVES. THEY ARE MORE BRAVE THAN OTHERS BECAUSE THEY ARE WILLING TO GO AGAINST THE ENEMY TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR COUNTRY AND THE QUALITIES THAT COME WITH IT STANDS STRONG!! GO DIE IN A DITCH!!
