YouTube took the vids down based on a challenge from "Wolters Kluwer Health"-- I have no idea who they are. If anyone has any idea what they would have to do with my vids I'd appreciate it.

I should be able to set up a similar account on vimeo-- and without the time restriction I could do longer vids and maybe even post in higher quality. This might not be a bad thing-- I'm mostly concerned about keeping this little community together and I'm lamenting the loss of the comment history

To further clarify my opinion, this is an example of how open ended the copyright laws are, as they apply to freedom of expression on the internet.

Apparently, any Joe Schmoe can cencor others with very little to go on. When I say copyright laws should be liberalized, I essentially agree with the Pirate party's platform on this.

Basically, the banning of the John Galt videos represents an arbitrary decision by a company on the basis of maybe a 2 second clip at most.

The goal is to control the flow of information and to use copyright rules as a means to censor the ideas of others. While its not as several as jailing the socialists (as was done during WW One.) It is a concern none the less.

Copyright & patent laws should be liberalized on the internet for sure.

Some even argue that pharmasuitical patents should be abolished, on the basis of the logic that patents drive up prices. (Which is true)

Not only do patents and copyrights drive up prices, they restrict, regulate, and control the flow of information. There are some dangerous precedents being made in the legal system on these issues...
