"STAND UP" (3:55)
(Electronica) Call to action for LGBT citizens in the wake of the passage of Prop 8 in California. The song was inspired by the National DOMA Protest organized by Join the Impact in January 2009, and a clip of the song was included in the promo video I produced that was nominated for the HRC Los Angeles E-Hero Award.

More Equal Union is an LGBT Civil Rights music album that will be available on iTunes in June 2009, and all proceeds will benefit Lambda Legal. For more information about the album, including audio previews and music videos, go to the official website at http://www.MoreEqualUnion.com.

THE STORY OF ETHAN AND JACOB (Part 1 of 13):
I started writing this album days after the people of California voted yes on Proposition 8 which amended the state constitution to eliminate the rights of same-sex couples to marry. The album storyline fittingly starts here, at a rally on a Saturday morning in front of the Los Angeles City Hall attended by thousands. Among those in the crowd were two young gentlemen named Ethan Hall and Jacob Collins, both starting their Senior year at the same high school, both unaware that the other is gay. (to be continued with "Together As One")

LYRICS:

It's the morning after, I take a warm shower sit down and grab the paper
Can't believe that the proposition came out ahead as I read the headlines
Yesterday the big election I'm in pain my gut is knotted
Tears are running down my partner's face he can't believe what's happening

We just want to live our lives
It's unfair to compromise
I don't understand the lies
I won't hide in this disguise
We all deserve equality
And we are all the same inside
We will not take this anymore
We've got to stand up

It's the weekend after I grab a warm coffee as I lounge on the sidewalk
People watching I catch a wedding ring on the finger as they're walking by
It's so beautiful I think that everyone is beautiful and
Why would someone say that we are ugly when our love is beautiful

We just want to live our lives
It's unfair to compromise
I don't understand the lies
I won't hide in this disguise
We all deserve equality
And we are all the same inside
We will not take this anymore
We've got to stand up

We will stand up

We just want to live our lives
It's unfair to compromise
I don't understand the lies
I won't hide in this disguise
We all deserve equality
And we are all the same inside
We will not take this anymore
We've got to stand up

We will come together
