The Scratch Orchestra charity event held on 28 February 2010 in aid if Cancer Research brought together 260 musicians to play in the largest orchestra Bristol has ever seen. With 35 flutes, 14 oboes, 32 clarinets, 11 bassoons, , 21 saxes (including Su Hayward), 7 french horns, 15 trumpets, and 78 violins, 30 cellos, and 6 double basses and many more, it was a truly awesome sound and experience to be sure. An absolutely cracking time for all involved!

  • had a great time doing this! shame you cant ee the whole orcestra i would have loved to see the 30 cellos!

  • This was a great day !!!! Very proud of my mum and my son and the other 258 players!!

  • Sounds really good - the tuning is remarkable considering how many musicians there are, and it being a scratch orcehstra. I wish I'd been there, I loved playing this piece with the BMO - great brass parts.
