The Straight Story (Part 1)

Alvin Straight is a very old man with a quiet life in a small country town. When his brother gets seriously sick, he decides to put away their differences and visit him after many, many years. So, alone, he begins a long journey through hundreds of miles, just to see his brother again, even if it's the last thing he will ever do. This movie is based on a true story.

Nonsense monkey boy,it`s a wonderful life affirming film.

The film may be slow but that is only because it goes to real lengths to reflect 'real life'. The main character does develop, he swallows his pride and battles his own ghosts to embrace his brother before the end. Its wonderful because nothing hugely dramatic happens, by doing that it is making a point in itself.

Of course this movie is slow. It´s about slow people. Of course there are only a few character developments. An old mans charakter doesn´t develop much, still it is a big step for him. This is a poetic movie, not a movie made for entertainment purposes.

Richard Farnsworth - a brilliant actor. I also thought he excelled himself as Matthew in Anne of Green Gables. He WAS Matthew....
