@KaruiNinja This is true, people forget that those 3 countries are the 3 'biggest' countries on the planet when considering population, size, money etc.... Romania is a poor small country from eastern europe and has consistently held its own against those giant. Thats why they are always the underdogs and why I cant help but love them the most

@theobosking I feel sorry for anyone who can ignore shitty dance in an ARTISTIC sport.
-
Unless your Romanian you have no right telling people that Deva trained gymnasts have no grace or have horrible dance skills, they sacrifice that for execution so they can win for their country which has to compete against the three most spoiled countries in the world, America, Russia, and China
-
@audie83 You are also wrong on Gogean. She was technically a very good dancer on beam and floor, she just wasnt very expessive.
-
@audie83 if you cant appreciate Amanar's all time great tumbling on floor with not only amazing difficulty and power, but sensational form and execution quality, even with the shitty dance in between, then I feel sorry for your narrow minded views on gymnastics. By the way Marinescu's bars was nothing special, Amanar actually had the best form and amplitude on bars of all the Romanians in 96 not Marinescu, though none of them were great.

she's now a DJ and goes to raves and does Extacy and smokes.

@audie83 Code-whoring, hee! Awesome neologism.
-
the russians yell STOI when their gymnasts dismount. or do a difficult arial. it means "stay" or "stick it"
i believe the romanians yell the same word as it means the same thing in romanian.
-
I always thought they yelled her name, Alex!
-
wot do they shout when she does here dismount, Howdy?
Marinescu was the only Romanian I could bare to watch on beam, bars, and floor exercise-especially in the compulsory rounds. She was the only one on her team who could dance, and showed grace and fluidity of movement.

She had grace, and could dance-unique on the Romanian team because she was Bucharest-trained-unlike the likes of Amanar, Gogean, and Milosovic who were trained in Deva by Belu's safe, code-whoring gymnastics training. The best thing about the Deva gymnasts was their tumbling on floor and vaulting. Their choreo was general horrid, and none of them had grace or could dance.
